Today we learnt all about Volcanoes.  I did this simple demonstration to illustrate volcano formation.  See here for an amazing animation and detailed explanation.

I have a box of rocks and have no idea which ones are igneous, sedimentary, or metamorphic.  Please help me sort them out!

Rock Cycle

We learnt about rocks and the rock cycle this week and even had a great demonstration using candy. Let's face it, candy always makes school better (as long as there is gym class after to help burn it off!)

Minerals

We had a great time learning about mineral identification by testing various minerals hardness, steak, luster, and colour and comparing it to a chart to figure out each one.
